A Girl and Her Dog

Today our sweet puggle girl turns 7 years old! Bailey, while hyper, has always been a sweetheart of a dog but her little buddy relationship with Kenley that has formed has made her even sweeter. Kenley is absolutely in love with her doggie and I swear Bailey gets more hugs throughout the day than we do.  These two have had a special bond from the second Kenley was born. Bailey adapted to big sister life instantly and has always been a gentle guard dog and snuggle friend to her baby sister. Now that Kenley is older, feeding Bailey is her job and Bailey sure does love her for it. Bailey was my first baby and even though her little world was turned upside down when Kenley came home, seeing my babies today gives this mama some major heart pains. They say a dog is man's best friend and in our case, that is definitely true. Bailey is just as much a part of the family as any of the rest of us and we love her so very much! But maybe no one as much as Kenley does.

-----------
Last week my baby turned 6 months old.
Can someone please explain to me how it's already been 6 months since this day?
6 months. Half of a year. This little angel has been in my life for 6 whole months already.
I don't know how it's possible that she has already been with us for 6 months and yet I don't remember what life was like without her. (ps. this is my new favorite picture of Kenley...I can't look at it without cracking up).

BABY STATS:
Weight: 15lbs 4oz (50th percentile)
Length: 25 3/4 inches (50th percentile)
Sleep: Sleeps 8pm - 6am every night with a 2 hour nap in the morning and an hour nap in the afternoon.
Feeding: 30oz formula/day with 2 meals of solid foods!
Diaper Size: Still wearing size 1, but I think we'll have to buy size 2 next trip.
Clothes Size: 6 months
Hair Color: Light Blonde
Eye Color: Still has the baby blues, Jason and I call them glass.
Milestones: Sitting Up! Started Solid Foods!
Nicknames: Kenny. Kenners. Kens. Squeak. Mou.
My Kenley,

I don't even know how to put into words how I feel about you. You amaze me. I am sure every mom says this about their baby but I am pretty sure that you are the smartest, funniest, happiest, most gorgeous baby to ever live. Daddy and I always talk about how we love you more every day and it's so true. Just when I think you couldn't be any cuter and I couldn't love you any more...I do. And you are. This month was big for you! You started eating solid foods and you are doing great at it! You picked up eating from a spoon really quickly and so far you've loved everything we've given you, except for avocados! You do not like them at all.
You have also started to sit up on your own! You are still a little wobbly and tend to tip over, but you are so close and are loving the new vantage point.
I'd have to say though, the biggest change in you is your ability to interact. You are so engaged and have such a personality! Daddy and I already know you are going to be a handful once you're mobile and I don't want to even think about the teenage years...you are going to be a piece of work. But you are also so sweet. You love to "talk" to mom and dad, you've started to nuzzle on us which melts my heart and you are IN LOVE with your puggle.
There is no point in trying to get your attention if Bailey is in the room because you will be fixated on her. You squeal when you see her and you love to pet her. It makes your mama so happy to see her babies as best buddies.

Happy 6 months my love. I am so proud of you, love you more than words can say and am excited to see what these next 6 months bring to your already amazing little life.

Girls Weekend

Holy macaroni! This weekend was amazing!
I'm excited to be linking up with Sami to recap it with all of you!
Jason left town on Thursday night to help my dad with his tournament in Denver
SO my weekend consisted of hangin' with my girls...
Yup, it was just me, Kenley, Bailey and my dad's dog Shiloh all weekend.

I HATE when Jason leaves town because I do not handle staying home alone well. I absolutely love having "me" time and I won't lie, having the house to myself is nice now and then, but once the sun goes down my anxiety is through the roof. But, for some reason, this time I was fine! Maybe it was all the fun stuff I had planned.

I figured if Jason is going to be gone, I am going to do all of my favorites things, SO...
....I ate take out Chinese.
....I watched A LOT of Gossip Girl /  Keeping Up With the Kardashians
....I got an Oreo McFlurry from McD's
....I went shopping for our family photo shoot coming up at Carter's, Baby Gap, Old Navy and Target
....I bought baby gifts for some expecting friends
...I had chips & salsa for dinner
....I brought Kenley and the dogs to the dog park
....I painted my nails
....I bought all of the necessary items to start Kenley on solid foods next week!
....I got new shoes and wore sandals for the FIRST time this year
....I drank my fair share of wine once Kenley was asleep
....of course I facetimed with Jason so he could see Kenny
--and--
I did a shit ton of laundry, went grocery shopping and got my oil changed. None of which are anywhere near my favorite things to do but I felt super productive and that is always a good thing!
PLUS, thanks to a little couponing, I saved $41.29 at Target!
HOLLA!

Even though all of that was amazing, there were definite highlights to this weekend:

On Friday morning, Kenley and I took our first BYOB {bring your own baby} Yoga Class at Blooma. The class that we took focused on restorative movements for mom and baby. We started with some infant massage and then went into yoga poses for mom which focused on restoring the core and relieving back pain from carrying around that bambino. It was absolutely the best $22 I've ever spent. I loved it! And so did Kenley. I want to start going on a more regular basis.
Kenley was definitely the class clown, shrieking and screaming {with glee} from the top of her lungs. It was such a fun and special way to bond with my baby, get in a good work out {yes, I was totally sore the next day} AND connect with other mamas. PLUS, it doesn't hurt that there's a Starbucks two doors down so that Kenley and I can have a coffee date after class.

On Saturday, my brother and I took Kenley down to campus for the Gopher football Spring Game. By now you all know what HUGE Gopher fans we are so I was beyond excited to bring Kenley to the stadium for the first time. We met up with our friends Pat & Nicci and their two daughters and had a great time.
It was a BEAUTIFUL day {finally} and Kenley did great. It was really, really special to spend the day with my brother and my baby girl at one of my favorite places on Earth.

Sunday, I FINALLY got to find out the gender of Baby Roe!!! I know it's hard to believe, but I DID NOT know the gender before the party. It nearly killed me and Carolyn but I am so happy that she kept the secret because finding out with her family and closest friends was so special.
Kenley and I both guessed that Baby Roe was a boy, so we rocked our blue and Kenley appropriately matched the "Waddle it Be" theme with her blue duck jammies.

I was absolutely thrilled to tears {literally, I actually cried} to find out that Jake & Carolyn are expecting a LITTLE BOY! I could not be more excited for them and I cannot wait to meet my little Beebo and start arranging his marriage to Kenley.
see....tears!

Our weekend didn't end there, my mom and step-dad came home from Arizona on Sunday and are here to stay through the fall! I am SO happy to have my mom home, I can't even tell you! So clearly, I had to meet them for dinner! We went to Redstone and it was so wonderful.
Seriously, so so so so so happy to have them home! Damn you snow birds.

And now it's Monday, but I'm not too mad because my hubby gets home this afternoon.
I cannot wait to see him!

I hope you all had wonderful weekends as well!

My First Born is 4!

Four years ago in a small Iowa town, there was Beagle mama who gave birth to an adorable litter of puggle puppies.

But one of these puggles stood out above the rest...

I first met my baby girl when she was 4 weeks old and it was love at first site.

After the longest four weeks of my life, we were finally able to bring her home.

Jason and I never in a million years could have anticipated how much we would love this little puggle . Over the last 4 years Bailey has brought us so much joy and I truly cannot remember life without her.
Tonight we will be celebrating the birth of our first born with a delicious Peanut Butter & Carrot Cake that I made! Well, Bailey will be eating the cake, Jason will probably drink some wine and I will be eating candy like it's my job.

I will leave you with a whole load of cuteness from Bailey's 4th year.

Happy Birthday my Angel.
Mommy loves you!
