My Belly {17 weeks}

Weekly photo FAIL!
Nugget this week...
...the rubbery cartilage is turning to bone!
...is putting on some fat (yeah, plump up little one!)
...is growing a stronger and thicker umbilical chord

 Size of the baby?
About 5 inches long and almost 6 ounces...about the size of an onion!

Total Weight Gain/Loss?
I've gained 10 pounds, still working on leveling out this weight gain, but at least I finally have a little sumthin' sumthin' popping!

Maternity Clothes?
I just bought a pair of maternity jeans. My jeans were starting to get so uncomfortable and I am not a fan of the Bella Bands, I just can't handle walking around with my pants undone. The maternity jeans are big on me right now but oh-so-much more comfortable!

Stretch marks?
Not yet. Thank you cocoa butter and heredity....stick with me!

Best Moments?
Feeling Nugget move and ordering our crib! Shit's getting real people!

Movement?
I've been feeling all kinds of little pops and flutters. Sometimes it's hard to tell if I'm digesting food or if my baby is moving, but there's definitely some crazy stuff going on in there.

Food Cravings?
Don't really have any cravings.

Anything making you queasy or sick?
Still can't do any meat! I've been able to do a few veggies but still nothing fresh. Boo!

What I miss?
Looking cute in my clothes. Everything is fitting a little more snug and getting a but uncomfortable.

What I'm looking forward to?
Getting our crib! It's set to be delivered on Saturday!!!

Nausea/Vomiting?
Not at all.

Symptoms?
My lower back has been super sore. My step-mom gave me a heating pad and about 10 minutes on that puppy before bed helps a lot.

Labor signs?
We don't talk about labor, remember?

Gender?
Only 3 1/2 more weeks of suspense! I seriously can't take it anymore. I am DYING to know what we're having.

Belly Button In or Out?
Still in.

Wedding rings On or Off?
All rings still on!!!

Sleep?
Still sleeping great, I move around a lot but that is not new.

Wisdom?
Take it easy. Even though the second trimester is a whole new ballgame in terms of energy, you are still growing a person! I find I get worn out a lot easier but because I'm feeling so good I don't slow down. I need to remember I can't do what I used to be able to and I need to enjoy taking it easy for another 5 months. We all know there won't be any taking it easy once the little one arrives.

The Long Weekend

This weekend has been incredible and I am super bummed that it's over and it's back to another week or work.

Our weekend really kicked off last Wednesday, when we had a surprise 75th birthday party for my Grandpa at Crave in Edina.

Then, Thursday night was a Bridal Shower for my brother's fiance Tate.
my little sister and soon-to-be sister-in-law, the shower was fiesta themed which explains the sombrero.

Early Friday my husby left me for the weekend to go to Chicago for a basketball tournament. So I had the whole weekend to myself.

I left work on Friday afternoon and immediately went to the gym to meet my best friend who is a personal trainer/yoga instructor/zumba teacher/model extraordinaire. She knows I've been struggling with accepting the weight gain that comes with pregnancy, so she made me a prenatal workout routine that I can do over lunch and also handle throughout my pregnancy.

After the gym I met my family for dinner because my Aunt was in town from Colorado. It was so great seeing everyone and catching up.
Who's 4 months pregnant? Me or my Uncle John? BAHAHA!

The rest of the weekend included the following....
I treated myself to some yummy coffee, spent the afternoon with my brother and grandma, ran errands, got a mani/pedi, had dinner with my mom and step-dad, went to church and got coffee with my mom, spent 4 hours by the pool with my buddy Robyn, ate an insane amount of fruit (I'm on a serious mango kick), walked the puggle, cleaned the house and watched hours of Giuliana & Bill.

It. Was. Fabulous.

Jason made it home safely late Sunday night so he was able to join me and my family at the Twins game on Monday.
On our way to Target Field (with my sister and hubby)

The Beeb and her hubby Jake were also at the game, so obviously it became one big party.

 Perfect day for baseball.

My husby <3

 The Beeb & Jake

 Me & Jake.

 My girls.

Mama and Steve.

After the game with hit up Crave downtown for some cocktails....or mocktails for me.
I might be pregnant, but I'm still fancy.

After the game we went over to my dad's house for a grilled turkey, corn on the cobb, mashed potatoes and stuffing---leave it to my family to have Thanksgiving dinner on Memorial Day. :)

The weekend ended with me laying on a heating pad, watching The Bachelorette and writing this post.

Perfection.

Weekends Past

I have been a mega-slacker in the weekend recap department and it's not because of a lack of material. So, I thought in honor of the long weekend that is a mere hours away, I would go back and recap the weekends that I missed to fill you all in on what I've been up to.

Cool? Great.

The end of April, Jason and I were in Colorado helping my dad run a tournament. I think I've mentioned this before, but my dad runs a competitive high school basketball program here in Minnesota. He also runs two tournaments a year, also in Minnesota, where competitive teams from around the country come to play and NCAA college coaches come to recruit.
It's a big deal and a ton of work. SO, long story kind-of-short, for the first time my dad decided to host a tournament in Denver. So he flew me and Jason out to help him run it.
The tournament went off without a hitch but the best part was that I have family in Colorado.
So I was able to spend some quality time with my cousin, Ben.
Yes ladies, he is single.

Then, after the tournament I stayed a couple of extra days so I could spend time with my grandparents.
AND, my mom flew in to meet me so that she could also spend some time with my grandparents. It was so great to see them and also spend some quality time with my mama. We went on a couple of great walks.

and we spent the day up in the mountains. We found this adorable little winery in Evergreen right on a little creek.
It was a fabulous day and a lovely trip.

Weekends since have included a lot of pool time. Hooray for summer weather so early!

A lovely Mother's Day brunch with my family.
Yes, I am wearing color and yes my boobs are massive.

Mother's Day also included a Mother/Daughter outing to the Diana Exhibit at the Mall of America.
It was so cool. They had a ton of her personal items starting from when she was a little. They also had a ton of her fabulous clothes AND the wedding dress, which was incredible to see in person. If this exhibit comes to your hometown, I definitely recommend going.

I also get to celebrate my first Mother's Day! Jason took me to Chili's (you guys have NO IDEA how much I frickin' love Chili's)
water is lame.

And, Jason  Bailey made me a super sweet Mother's Day card from her and the baby.

These past few weekends have also kicked off the start of shower season!
I've showered my high school girlfriend, Megan, who is getting married in September.
Me with the bride-to-be. And a group pic of all my high school girlfriends!
We don't get together nearly enough!

AND, I showered my friend Andrea and her baby boy who is set to debut in July!
How cute is she?!! And, she's totally going to let me borrow that dress in a few months!

We have also made it out to catch a couple of movies.
We saw The Avengers with the Beeb a few weekends ago.
I loved it. I haven't seen a single one of the movies leading up to it, but it loved this movie!
The Hulk was my fave.

And last weekend Jason and I saw What to Expect When You're Expecting.
Jason loved it, and I thought it was OK. It wasn't as funny as I thought it was going to be but it was cute. I cried like 10 times, but I'll just chalk that up to pregnancy.

Whew, that was a lot. But I think you're all caught up now!
I hope you all have a fabulous and SAFE Memorial Day weekend!

xoxo,

My Belly {16 weeks}

I still have NO bump and I had just eaten a giant meal for my grandpa's birthday...so Bailey is covering up the bod this week.

Nugget this week...
...can hear my voice!
...is growing hair, eyebrows and eyelashes!
...is forming taste buds!

Size of the baby?
4.5 inches long and 3.5 ounces...about the size of an avocado.

Total Weight Gain/Loss?
I'm still up 8 pounds which means I didn't gain any weight this week, which makes me SO happy! I know I need to be gaining weight for the baby, but since I've gained more than I should at this point, I feel really good about staying even. I've been putting a lot more effort in to eating better foods and getting out and exercising

Maternity Clothes?
I'm still in my regular clothes, but I've been rocking the maternity swimsuit at the pool.

Stretch marks?
Nada.

Best Moments?
Last weekend Jason and I discussed some baby "hot topics" over dinner, such as Godparents, Guardianship (if God forbid something should happen to us) as well as updating our insurance, maternity leave, etc etc etc. It was GREAT to get those concerns out on the table and talk through them.

Movement?
Not yet. I've read some varying reports of when I will be able to feel baby, one thing I read said as early as THIS WEEK!

Food Cravings?
Still no cravings.

Anything making you queasy or sick?
I absolutely cannot eat any meat. NONE. It makes me want to gag just thinking about it. And I'm still having trouble with fresh veggies.

What I miss?
Eating like a normal human. Trying to plan dinner or find something on a menu that is somewhat healthy is a real struggle when meat and veggies are

What I'm looking forward to?
FINALLY determining the sex of the baby! Just 4 more weeks!!!

Nausea/Vomiting?
Not at all.

Labor signs?
I am already having anxiety about labor, so I try as hard as I can not to think about it until I absolutely have to.

Gender?
I am still thinking BOY and Jason is still stuck on GIRL.

Belly Button In or Out?
Still in.

Wedding rings On or Off?
All rings still on!!!

Sleep?
I've been sleeping great! I still take a couple of bathroom breaks but other than I'm sleeping through the night.

Wisdom?
Take it one step at a time. I get really overwhelmed really easily and when you're having a baby there is A LOT to think about and figure out. I'm trying to take everything one thing at a time and make decisions as they come up. Easier said than done.
