Thoughts on Thursday

This weekend my little sister is competing in the State Dance Competition! I am so excited and SO nervous! This will be her first time competing at State as she is only a Freshman! Best part...The Beeb is going to come with me to cheer Kara and her team on! SO EXCITED!
So proud.

I have a severe addiction to LeAnn Chin, which is essentially a Minnesota Chinese food chain. Think Chipotle, only with Chinese food and absolutely no healthy options. I am a part of their loyalty club {I know, I have a problem} and get deals texted to me from time to time. I got said text yesterday for Buy 1, Get 1 FREE entrees! So I texted the deal to Jason and this is what followed:
Also, I learned last weekend that you're supposed to have ICE in your phone for the person who is your In Case of Emergency contact. WHO KNEW?

I have decided I need to go to Social Media Anonymous. Addicted to all things social media.
With that being said...you really should follow me on TWITTER, PINTEREST and INSTAGRAM {BusyBeeMN}. And most importantly right here on BLOGGER, just go right over there ------------------>

I have been getting Shellac manicures every two weeks to keep me nails looking nice and I am absolutely hooked on the stuff. The past couple of times I have gotten Rock Royalty and have decided it's without a doubt my favorite color.

I would be remiss if I didn't take the time to honor my childhood idol. I was completely heartbroken when I heard the news that Whitney Houston has passed away on Saturday.
I've heard people say that they're not surprised and that she had it coming but she was a person and a mother first and foremost and celebrity or not, drug addict or not, it is always sad when a child loses their mother. People need to show a little compassion and honor her for the incredible talent that she was. I grew up with Whitney and idolized her for most of my childhood. Her concert was the first I ever went to, The Bodyguard was the first R rated movie I was allowed to watch, my "house" daughter was always named Whitney and I still have every album she ever recorded. She was an incredibly talented woman who somewhere lost the strength and will to take care of herself. I am still and probably will always be heartbroken about this loss.

Thought on Thursday

Yes, you read that correctly, I just have one thought on this lovely Thursday morning. OK, that's not entirely true, I have about 30 million thoughts going on at all times which is why I am such a spaz.

Basically, I sat down to do a Thoughts on Thursday post and realized I am really only focused on one thing right now....being a grown up.

After getting married something sparked in me, something I'm pretty sure my parents have been waiting 9 years to spark. I need to get my life in order.
I'm 27 {no spring chicken}, I'm married and I have a full-time job. If that doesn't scream grown-up, I don't know what does. So I have been spending a lot of time thinking about what I want in life and what I need to do to get it.

In the immediate future I would like a new car, I would like to travel and I would like to buy a house. In the future in it's entirety I would like to be happy, healthy, financially stable and have a husband and kids who think I'm the greatest thing since sliced bread, I would also like to have a clean house. Like clean all the time.
So as of late I have been trying to get my big butt in to gear. Figuring out bills, creating budgets, eating healthier, cooking more, trying to exercise, reading more books, keeping the house clean, washing my face before bed. Ya know, little things that add up to a better and happier me. Things that will lead to a future of blissful happiness. Let me tell you, it's not all that fun! It's depressing to see how much money I still owe on my student loans, or how many calories are in Cheese Puffs from LeeAnn Chin or how much I pay to watch television every month, and it's way easier to just hop in to bed without washing my face.

But, I'm lucky. I have an amazing husband who makes me laugh harder than anyone has ever made me laugh. We're healthy, we have a great townhouse and we have great jobs that we love. It will take time to pay off loans, and save money and I may never be able to give up Cheese Puffs, but I think we can do this. I think we can get our shiz in order and someday have everything we've ever dreamed of...and I'm not talking about cars and TVs but  healthy kids, a clean house, a clean face and bladder control problems from laughing so hard throughout the years.

Thoughts on Thursday

Play along with BB's Thoughts on Thursday: Life, Love & Puppy Prints

-It's no surprise that I love my fiance, but it's the little things he does that make me crazy about him. This morning I came in to work to find some little surprises! He bought me my favorite Market Pantry sparkling water and left a note in the fridge:

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE when he draws me pictures!

Then, I went to put the bakery out in the bakery case and found this:

In case you can't read it, it says,
"Hi Tootie! (his nickname for me) I Love You!!!!! Wanna get married???"

-I am full blown obsessed with LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem" video! If you haven't seen it, please watch it....it's unreal. Officially one of my top 5 fave music videos ever!

-I got a new swimsuit for my Bachelorette Lake Weekend coming up in August! To say I'm excited would be a HUGE understatement!

Cute, right?

-I broke up with The Bachelorette.

I couldn't stand Ashley last season and was super bummed when she was chosen as the new Bachelorette, but, because I've never missed a season I gave her a chance. I made it through the first couple of episodes, but this week I just couldn't take it any more. She is SO whiny! And the whole Bentley thing (staged or not) was SOOOOOOOOO stupid! I watched about 15 minutes of Monday's episode then stopped it, erased it and canceled the recording. Just can't deal.

-142 days...no big deal.

Thoughts on Thursday: Book Worm

Another week has come and gone and it's once again time for my BB's...

...so head on over to Life, Love & Puppy Prints to play along!

The beginning of this year I set a goal for myself to read 25 book in 2011. I still have a ways to go, but I am well on my way to achieving that goal. Since I haven't shared with you what I've been reading I decided ToT was the perfect way to give you some book reviews!

The Help

I have always been interested in the Equal Rights movement and I really enjoyed reading a non-fiction book from that time period. I was a little disappointed in the abrupt end, but overall I really loved this book and would highly recommend it. They are already making it in to a movie, which comes out in August. Emma Stone is playing Skeeter...I'm not sure how I feel about that casting choice but I'll definitely being seeing the movie.

Sliding in to Home

I'm a big Kendra fan and was interested in how her fame came to be. She was quite the wild child and with a strain of good luck she completely changed her life around and is where she is now. I read this book in just a few hours, it was really sweet and really interesting....I definitely recommend this book to Kendra fans.

UnSweetined

I am a big fan of celebrity memoirs and since I grew up watching Full House I thought this book on the real life Stephanie Tanner would be really interesting. I was a little disappointed. It was fascinating hearing about all the crazy things she did and went through. The book is really more about addiction than it is a celebrity. The writing style was just a bit too casual, made the book seem less authentic. But, if you love Full House like I do, it was a quick and interesting read.

The Lost Symbol

I absolutely loved Angels & Demons and The DaVinci Code, so I figured I would love this book. I did really like it, but didn't love it. I thought it was really bogged down with the history (which the other two books are as well, but not as much). The overall story was super interesting but I found myself skimming over a lot of pages to get to the good stuff. If you're a fan of Dan Brown's other books, I would definitely give this one a read.

Lies that Chelsea Handler Told Me

I am a HUGE Chelsea Handler fan. I watch her show every night, saw her stand up show live and have read her first three books. And, just like the first three, this one didn't disappoint. The book is written by her friends, family and co-workers and they tell the stories of being caught in Chelsea's lies. It is hilarious! I definitely recommend it, especially if you're a Chelsea fan!

The Autobiography of a Fat Bride

This book is a hilarious real-life, self deprecating look at dating, wedding planning and early marriage. Laurie Notaro is absolutely hilarious and I loved this book! My favorite part of the book is when she is talking about wedding planning taking over her life, she says, "Bridal magazines are kind of like OxyContin for the ivory satin/tulle crowd, and when you get down to it, I believe they are the number one cause of why it is easier to reason with a crack addict than it is an engaged woman."

I have a couple of books waiting to be read on my Nook but I always need suggestions! What are you reading? Anything you recommend?
